Money Alert! Saturday 17th September- Sunshine!! Starts at 7, I’m planning on being there about 1, choir will need to be there at about 6 if possible as we won’t have had chance to soundcheck prior to the gig. Tickets are on sale now from Jan Charnock- please get buying as we need to plan the catering- don’t leave it until the last minute.

Money Alert! Friday 30th September- The choir’s weekend away to Wales! Money is at the moment set to £50 for adults and £30 for under 16′s. The accommodation is costing us £30 p/p for both adults and children. We’re hoping we may be able to refund you some of the adult cost, as we’re looking at ways of paying for the food for the weekend, but for now that’s what we’re charging. You may want to start giving me some of that money now- I do keep records so if you want to pay it a bit at a time, you can. We might start learning some of the Christmas stuff whilst we’re away woooo!!

I have decided to rehearse this week (20th) as planned, then to take a break from full rehearsals for the next three weeks. So that’s 27th July, 3rd August and 10th August off!! Here’s hoping for sunshine! This is when most of the choir are away, and hopefully it will allow the musicians to have chance to practise.
We will then start rehearsals back up on the 17th August, and go right through until the gig, so that’s 17th, 24th & 31st of August and 7th Sept. 14th of Sept will be the technical rehearsal, hopefully at St Anne’s Parish Centre.
As you will see, excluding the technical rehearsal, that leaves us one practise before the holiday, three during the holidays when some of the choir will be missing, and one in September with the full choir.
That means it is VITAL that you are working on the tracks in the mean time- don’t just wait until we meet again. I know there are still one or two missing from the website, but get working on the ones that are there and I’ll get the others posted as fast as I can. Usual rules apply, if you need any help PLEASE ask! xxx

We’re enjoying taking the A-May-Sing set on its summer tour. So far we’ve taken it to Henshaws, which you can read about here, and Pinfold Primary School’s Summer Fair, where we sang in a field again, although the weather couldn’t have been more different! Pinfold is a really special school, attended by several of the Young Voice singers in ReSound, so it was great to be able to help them with their fundraising. The spectacular sunshine was topped off at the end by a beautiful white dove flying down and landing on the heads of the beloved altos! Rumour has it that it had escaped from a children’s entertainer who was working at the hall on the previous day!

Our next excursion is Charlie Geldart’s christening… we’re singing a few songs at the church, including debuting the song “On this Day” written specially for the occasion. After the service the choir will be performing the A-May-Sing! set at Scarisbrick village hall, and are invited with their families to bring and share food with the family.

Our final outing for the A-May-Sing! set is at Bescar Lane Methodist Church BBQ, by way of thanks to them for the use of their lovely church to practise in. It’s not a fundraiser, just a church social, so it should be a lovely afternoon.

After that we’ll be taking a break from rehearsals over the summer, whilst the choir take their ipods and mp3 players to the nearest beach to practise the set for Sunshine! on 17th September. Rumour has it their may be a new mega mix to rival ‘brella, but you’ll have to watch this space!!

Taking place in the brand spanking sparkly and new Scarisbrick Village Hall, the evening started slowly as we missed a couple of our crucial sound guys to help us set up the gear. Fortunately the bar was open, so we all had plenty of time to get a few drinks in and have a chat to everyone we’d not met before. Half an hour in, and we kicked off the night in style with a fearless Thomas singing solo! After that the offers came pouring in and we had an endless supply of superb singers to entertain us!

This is the first time the choir have attempted any sort of ‘bring and share’ supper, and we were amazed and delighted by the amount of food that arrived! It certainly resolves the question about whether we should cater for ourselves rather than hire in caterers in future! Among the many delicious items on the buffet table was a spectacular Mushroom Wellington, enjoyed by both the herbivores and the carnivores in the group. I’m so pleased with how the evening went, and how great it was to be socialising with each other, and I am really looking forward to seeing what the future will bring to these two wonderful groups.

And we’re delighted to announce that Celebrate! 2010 will take place at the beautiful church of St Elizabeth in Scarisbrick, the same venue as last year, although I can’t promise the atmospheric snow!!

The date is Wednesday 22nd December, at 8pm, and as last year, the music will be a mix of traditional and modern, spiritual and secular, but all aimed at creating a seasonal spectacular to really ice the festive cake.

Tickets will be on sale from 1st December, priced at £4, (under threes free) and this includes a glass of mulled wine and a minced pie. There will be a raffle on the evening, with our usual range of spectaular prizes on offer. Most of the money raised will go to charity, and this year we have decided to nominate Cafod, in grateful thanks to St Elizabeth’s who have supported us over the last couple of years.

Tickets are going to sell out very quickly and won’t be available on the night, so plan ahead, get your tickets as soon as possible! And we look forward to wishing you a very, very merry Christmas!
